A former civil servant celebrated her 100th birthday this month surrounded by friends and family.
Elsie Brady marked the milestone birthday at Buckingham House Care Home, in Gerrards Cross, on January 7.
Elsie lived in London working as a civil servant, never marrying and retiring at the age of 65.
Her mother was a shopkeeper and died at the age of 98.
Activities co-ordinator Sue Stanco said Elsie used to love travelling, especially enjoying New Zealand and Canada, and even taking a trip to Las Vegas when she turned 90.
She now enjoys reading and also used to enjoy gardening when she was able to do it.
Sue said: “She got a card from the Queen for her birthday and also Amber Rudd – she was so pleased.
“She loved the party, we had an entertainer and a special cake for her.”
