Chinese New Year celebrations will kick off in style in Chesham this weekend as Chinatown comes to the Market Square again.
Last year, hundreds of people turned out to celebrate the tradition – and the same is expected again as they usher in the Year of the Pig on February 9.
The popular event will feature the traditional Chinese lion dance at noon, with the mayor of Chesham, Jane MacBean, taking part in a “dotting of the eyes” ceremony to kick off the performance.
The festivities will run from 10am to 2pm and Chinese food and novelty items will be on sale and revellers will be able to enjoy numerous market stalls on the day.
