A popular Marlow leisure centre in desperate need of refurbishment is finally set to get new changing rooms and swimming pool in a £2 million revamp.

Court Garden Leisure Complex, in Pound Lane, has fallen into disrepair over the years, suffering a gas leak and leaking roof in 2017.

The centre is run by Places for People on behalf of Wycombe District Council (WDC) which said the work will ensure the facility “remains fit for use”.

The centre was built in 1975 and WDC says many parts are now at the “end of their lifecycle”.

A condition survey was carried out in September 2016 and in March 2017, the cabinet agreed a budget of £2 million for the refurbishment.

The work will include a revamp of the changing rooms, swimming pool and pool hall, replacement of the flooring in the sports hall, mechanical and engineering works including a new combined boiler, some LED lighting, ventilation and general electrical services and roofing works.

Cllr Graham Peart, cabinet member for community at WDC, said: “A lot of the work will be behind the scenes, sorting out essential, ‘boring but important’ elements that keep a busy, popular leisure centre operating.

“There will inevitably be some disruption while this essential work is carried out, but we are taking measures to minimise the impact on customers as far as possible.”
