Around 200 travellers who descended on High Wycombe yesterday evening were said to be mourning the death of a young pregnant woman who died in a car crash with her husband.
The group, who visited a pub in Frogmoor, were said to be holding a wake following the funeral of pregnant Shauna McDonagh, 18, who died in a horrific car crash in West London alongside her husband Patrick on February 10.
Her funeral was held yesterday in Luton.
A reader told the Bucks Free Press the group did not cause any trouble in the town centre, but nearby pubs and shops were allegedly told to shut early.
The Spindle and Thread pub in Bellfield Road and Yates’s pub in Frogmoor said they would be closing for the rest of the evening from 8.30pm last night due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
A number of caravans were later seen in the car parks of ASDA and the Empire Cinema in Cressex.
Thames Valley Police have been approached for more information.
