A quick-thinking businessman helped get two would-be burglars arrested when they tried to get into their premises late at night.

Mihai Apintiliesei, 44, and 49-year-old Marinica Apintiliesei, both of no fixed address, were arrested when they tried to break into a business in Sheepcote Dell Road in Beamond End on February 24.

The pair had tried to force their way into the property at around 11.30pm - but their plan was scuppered when an alarm system activated and the owner of the business called the police.

A police helicopter was called out to help find the pair and they were arrested close to the scene in possession of tools that they had planned to use in the burglary.

The duo were each jailed for 12 weeks at Wycombe Magistrates' Court on February 26 after pleading guilty to one count of attempted burglary with intent to steal and one count of going equipped for theft.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Lisa-Marie Flitter of the Investigation Hub said: "Messrs Apintiliesei experienced swift justice, having been charged, convicted and sentenced in connection with the offences within two days.

“I would like to thank the victim whose quick-thinking to alert the police helped in the offenders being arrested.”
