High Wycombe's railway station has been voted the best commuter station around London - after coming in second place last year.

A study carried out by the website ‘On Time Trains’ found that commuters from High Wycombe, a Chiltern Railways station, see reliable services to and from Marylebone station, with over 90 per cent of trains arriving within five minutes of the scheduled time and only one per cent of trains being cancelled.

A further two stations, Beaconsfield and Aylesbury also featured in the top 10, at fifth and eighth respectively.

The study included 30 major commuter stations outside the M25 within an hour’s travel time into London and with more than a million passenger journeys per year.

Stations were ranked in four categories – performance, frequency, speed and value.

It comes after Chiltern Railways were named best franchise rail operator and the highest-scoring London commuter service in the Which? 2019 passenger survey.

Alan Riley, director of customer services at Chiltern Railways, said: "We’re thrilled that three of our stations have been included in the top 10 commuter stations around London, especially with High Wycombe being named number one.

"We constantly talk to our customers to understand what is important to them and continually improve our service. With improvements to the waiting rooms and toilet facilities at High Wycombe currently underway, the station will go from strength to strength.”
