Parking charges could increase across all South Bucks car parks, if council plans are given the green light.

South Bucks District Council’s (SBDC) cabinet will meet on Wednesday, where members will discuss proposals to increase short stay parking tariffs and Sunday charges by 10p across the district.

There are also plans to increase the 24-hour tariff in Burnham and Farnham Common by 20p, as well as introduce a one-hour tariff in the Broadway car park in Farnham Common.

The report due to be presented to cabinet this week states the price hike would “sustain the operational needs” of the car parks and “maximise available parking spaces”.

SBDC’s charges are reviewed annually to ensure parking provision “supports the vitality” of towns and villages by “providing a balance of long and short stay parking”.

There are no plans to increase the long stay tariffs in Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross.

The council report states: “The charges are reviewed on an annual basis to ensure the parking provision continues to support the vitality of local towns and villages – providing a balance of long and short stay parking through a structured payment system, taking into account the needs of all car park user groups.

“In addition, the review enables operational requirements to continue to be supported to maintain longevity of the car parks and contribute to improving off street parking in the district.”

A consultation will take place if plans are given the green light this week.
