Drivers travelling through High Wycombe have been warned to expect additional traffic next week as part of a busy road will be closed off so gas work can be carried out.

Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB) says Cadent Gas will close one lane of Crendon Street for five days and five nights from Monday, March 18.

While carrying out gas mains installation work in Castle Street and Crendon Street, the gas company discovered the gas main on Crendon Street “needs significant additional work”.

The closure of one lane will allow Cadent Gas to complete the work safely and maintain the supply to properties in the area.

The work is expected to be complete by March 25.

A spokesman for TfB said: “Appropriate traffic management will be put in place to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible.

“We do appreciate that these necessary works will cause congestion in the area and will be an inconvenience to some commuters travelling through High Wycombe, and thank the public for their patience and cooperation.”
