A MAN has been jailed for drug offences after being found with a large quantity of crack cocaine and heroin in Reading.

Ashley Patrick, 54, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

The sentencing is in connection with an incident in Westcote Road on January 30, in which Patrick was detained and searched by officers.

After pleading guilty at Reading Crown Court on Monday March 11, Patrick was sentenced at the same hearing to two years and three months’ imprisonment.

Investigating officer PC Zachary Rowe, from the Reading Stronghold team, said: "Tackling the illegal supply of drugs is a priority for Thames Valley Police.

"I hope this sentence sends a clear message that drug dealing in Reading will not be tolerated.

"The Stronghold team continue to work hard to investigate and prosecute those committing drug-related crime in our communities.

"I would ask anyone who is aware of drug dealing in their community to please report it to the police through the non-emergency number 101 or makes a report online."

Anyone wanting to remain anonymous is asked to report to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
