UPDATE: Body of woman found in Humber Estuary is missing student Libby Squire

Detectives searching for missing student Libby Squire, from High Wycombe, have confirmed a body found in the Humber Estuary yesterday (Wednesday) is of a woman.

The 21-year-old University of Hull student went missing in the early hours of Friday, February 1, and has not been seen since.

Police said last month that they were becoming increasingly concerned that Miss Squire had “come to some harm”.

They confirmed today the body found in the estuary, near the Grimsby Docks, is that of a female. It was recovered from the water close to Spurn Point at around 3.30pm.

A spokesman said: “The post-mortem examination is underway and is expected to continue into the evening.

“We have been in contact and informed those that needed to be made aware of the recovery.

“Formal identification is still yet to take place and we remain unable at this stage to confirm her identity.”

Last week, marking six weeks since she went missing, video footage of the happy and smiling student singing along in a car with her family was released as they said they miss her “beyond belief”.

Pawel Relowicz, 24, of Raglan Street, Hull, was arrested in connection with Libby's disappearance and remains under investigation.
