An alternative Mother’s Day for those who have lost a loved one is set to be held in Jordans.

Staff at GreenAcres Chiltern, in Potkiln Lane, say they are “more than aware” of how difficult Mother’s Day can be for many people who have lost their own mum.

The cemetery will be hosting an event on Mother’s Day to raise money for the Scannappeal breast biopsy appeal, which will offer visitors a chance to listen to live music, enjoy refreshments and light a candle.

Keely Thompson, from GreenAcres Chiltern, said: “When you go to the shop and see all the cards on display, you overhear the conversations between families about what Mum would like best.

“When you see the special Mother’s Day meals that say “why not spoil Mum this Mother’s Day” spare a thought for those who are not able to join in with the jubilation.

“We are more than aware of how this day can be very hard for a great deal of people. Our events are planned with great care, ensuring that we are able to offer the opportunity for families to remember mum in a safe space with others who wish to remember and reflect.”

Call the park on 01494 872158 to book. Entry is a £2 donation to Scannappeal.
