A main route between West Cumbria and Carlisle was closed for nearly three hours after a crash blocked the road.
Cumbria police were called to the A596 at Crosby Villa, south of Prospect near Aspatria, at 5.45pm yesterday (March 24) following the three-vehicle collision.
The vehicles involved included a Ford Transit van and a Citroen.
It is not thought that anyone was seriously hurt in the crash.
Police said there was heavy traffic, with vehicles forces to find alternative routes betwen the Bullgill turn off at Crosby Villa and the B5301 at Station Road, Aspatria.
It came as traffic which would normally use the B5300 coast road remains diverted via Aspatria due to the emergency closure of Dubmill Point because of erosion.
Police said the road reopened at about 8.30pm.
