Children at a Marlow primary school are helping to save the planet by giving residents more recycling opportunities.

Pupils at St Peter’s Catholic Primary School have teamed up with Terracycle, an innovative recycling company that recycles hard-to-recycle materials, with the school now a drop-off point for baby food pouches and packets, as well as felt tip pens, highlighters, biros or fibre tip pens that no longer work.

The school’s eco team leader, Jennifer Boyle, said: “Our school is currently the only place in Marlow or High Wycombe that is recycling these items, and we feel very proud to be enabling others to recycle items rather than sending them to landfill.

“We urge readers to visit our school in Prospect Road if they usually place these items in the bin, so that they can help to fill our special bins rather than seeing more waste going into landfill.

“The school’s eco team, made up of pupils from Reception to Year 6, work hard to find every opportunity to reduce, re-use and recycle.

“We are a Silver Eco school, but are hoping to be awarded the Green Flag status in the future, showing that we are making excellent efforts towards saving our environment.”

The school has sent more than 2,000 food pouches off to be recycled so far.
