A construction worker from High Wycombe died of a blood clot just one day after leaving hospital following abdominal surgery.
Sandor Cseplo, 61, suffered an unknown injury while in his home country of Romania months before he complained of abdominal pains.
His son, Dragos-Alin Cseplo, told an inquest into his father’s death at Bucks Coroner’s Court on Wednesday that he took his father to Wycombe Hospital on February 15, 2018, because of the pain and he was referred to Stoke Mandeville for an operation.
The Abercromby Avenue resident was treated for an abdominal wall abscess, believed to have been caused by an unknown injury he sustained in Romania, and was responding well following the operation, with consultant surgeon Spyros Marinos-Kouris recommending a course of antibiotics and regular dressing changes.
He was discharged from hospital on February 18 but died a day later when he suffered a pulmonary embolism brought on by deep vein thrombosis.
Crispin Butler, senior coroner, said efforts had been made to determine what happened to Mr Cseplo in Romania but no information could be found. His death was ruled an accident.
