The Bucks Free Press is once again in the running to be named weekly newspaper of the year at a prestigious annual awards ceremony next month - after scooping the accolade last year.

The Regional Press Awards celebrate the best of British regional and local newspaper journalism over the course of 2018 in print, online and other platforms.

The BFP has been shortlisted for the second year in a row in the weekly paid-for newspaper of the year with a circulation of over 10,000.

Last year, the paper scooped the prestigious accolade of weekly newspaper of the year (below 15,000) category, fighting off tough competition from the Accrington Observer, Bury Times, Cambridge Independent, Hexham Courant and Newry Reporter.

This year, the BFP will go up against Kent Messenger, Newbury Weekly News, The Cumberland News, The Powys County Times and The Westmorland Gazette.

The awards will be handed out at a ceremony hosted by LBC radio presenter Nick Ferrari at the IET, Savoy Place in London on Friday, May 17.

The Society of Editors, supported by Camelot since 2001, organises the awards on behalf of the journalism industry.
