The annual run in Prestwood has had a makeover and now includes a new name, a 5k fun run and for the first time a children’s obstacle as well as the popular 10k times race.

Hosted at the Sprinters Leisure Centre on May 12, newly-renamed Run Prestwood raises much-needed funds for the Chilterns MS Centre. The charity works with people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) and helps individuals live happy and healthier lives by helping them tor each their goals.

Last year over £7000 was raised, which has enabled the Wendover-based charity to support many local families affected by MS, but your help is needed to beat that this year, by signing up as a runner and getting your friends and family to sponsor you.

The family-friendly event begins 10.30am with the 10k run throughout the village, with the 5k following shortly after. At lunchtime, the very popular Children’s Ultim8 Warrior obstacle course, designed for children aged 4 – 11.

To provide even more excitement, their will be an inter-school trophy for the school that has the most entrants, with all entrants receiving a special medal for completing the course. Visit www.runprestwood.co.uk to enter your child for a spot on the obstacle course.

Andy Graham and his neighbour ran the 10k last year and said: “I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this well-organised race last year and to raise money for such a great local charity. I have seen the work they do and know what a difference they make to someone with MS.

“I wanted to run in under 50 minutes and beat my neighbour. I was thrilled to come it at 49.19 but wasn’t’ quite good enough to beat Derek. It’s a great event and I will be back as I would love to shave a few minutes off this year and pip my running rival to the post!”
