Penn and Tylers Green FC have been given the green light to install floodlights at their Elm Road ground after years of fighting the decision.

The Hellenic League Division One East side have been refused promotion despite winning the title before due to the fact that they have no floodlights at the ground.

This season, the club have been forced to play their evening games and games in the winter months at Amersham Town's Spratleys Meadow ground.

However, that is all set to change after Chiltern District Council reversed their decision and gave the club the go-ahead to start on the renovations.

Penn manager Gareth Williams was delighted with the news.

He said: "I am buzzing. Everyone is just so happy with the decision.

"There was such a worry over everything as we didn't know what was going to happen but now we do, we can build for next season.

"I had got a few players in and didn't know if we could keep them beyond this season. Now we can progress and I can't wait for next season now."
