Community groups will be taking to the streets later today from 11am – 4pm to clean up High Wycombe.

The High Wycombe BID Company (HWBIDCo) have been provided with funding from Wycombe District Council to organise the #TeamUp2CleanUp event.

This afternoon, children will also have the opportunity to make bird boxes with Chiltern Rangers at different locations across the Town Centre. Thames Valley Water and Revive the Wye will also be in attendance doing clean up along sections of the river.

Last month, a resident questioned councillors at Wycombe District Council's full council meeting, saying that rubbish was “blighting” the town centre.

Melanie Williams, High Wycombe BID Manager said, “Sometimes if you want something done you have to do it yourself – at least at first. We are proud to be joining together with businesses, community groups and volunteers from across High Wycombe to clean up our Town Centre.

“Businesses need the Town Centre to be deep cleaned on a regular basis and we are delighted to secure support from local authorities for the next event in this campaign.”

Councillor Julia Adey, Cabinet Member for Environment at Wycombe District Council, said: “This is a great opportunity to work together to improve our area. Some of my council colleagues and I will be there on Wednesday to roll up our sleeves and get stuck in and I really look forward to meeting other volunteers on the day.”
