Bucks Free Press: Deliveroo cycle riders are reportedly on a pay-per-delivery scheme

Deliveroo says it has created work for more than 70 people, with the majority of these being the Deliveroo riders who deliver your food.

Dan Warne, Managing Director of Deliveroo in UK and Ireland said: “Our whole team here at Deliveroo are delighted that our rapid growth in High Wycombe over the past two years means that customers have more choice, restaurants are able to increase their revenue, and riders have opportunity to choose well-paid, flexible work.”

However, Deliveroo has been at the centre of controversy and legal action, with a group of riders claiming they were being denied rights, including the legal minimum wage and paid holiday, after being labelled self-employed contractors.

But in December riders lost a high court battle over union recognition, with the court ruling that riders’ human rights had not been breached and that they were not in an ‘employment relationship’ with the firm.
