A Hyde Heath care home presented a generous donation of £2,500 to a local charity in recognition of the care the charity’s nurses provide to its residents.

Rayner’s Extra Care Home made the donation to Rennie Grove Hospice Care who provide end of life care at no cost to patients and their families. Currently, the hospice relies on the generosity of the local community to the majority of its £7.9m annual operating costs.

James Matthews, Chairman at Rayners said: “Rennie Grove’s nurses have provided a wonderful service to some of our residents and have made sure that their last days have been comfortable and pain-free.

“We are delighted that we are able to support this important local charity and are very keen for our staff to work in partnership with Rennie Grove’s nurses so that together, we can provide the very best possible care to our residents.

“We are very proud of our long association with Rennie Grove and look forward to continuing our excellent relationship with the charity in the future.”

Jeanne Matthews, Director of Care at Rayners Extra Care Home said: “We have the utmost respect and admiration for the immense knowledge that Rennie Grove’s specialist nurses have about caring for patients who are nearing the end of their life. Our team of carers here at Rayners have learned such a lot from working alongside them.

“When residents with a terminal illness come to Rayners we are always reassured when we learn they are Rennie Grove patients.”

Jane Foy, Major Gifts Manager at Rennie Grove said: “We are extremely grateful to the Matthews family and the whole team at Rayners for their generous donation. We are especially proud to hear such positive feedback from them about the quality of care our nurses have provided to their residents and that the team at Rayners have benefited from working alongside them.

“Rennie Grove’s strategy for the coming years includes working more closely with care homes and we look forward to exploring how we can do this with Rayners going forward.”
