A group of Lane End residents have organised an unusual fundraising challenge in support of a young boy with Cerebal Palsy.

Jenson Nicholls, from Lane End, suffers from Cerebal Palsy and underwent SDR (selective dorsal rhizotomy) surgery with the hope he would be able to walk again.

Organised to support Jenson’s Giant Leap, the group have purchased 13 Ford Street KA’s, all for under £500. The cars will be taken on a mammoth 2,000 miles round trip to Mont Blanc and back.

So far, the family have now raised almost £30,000 which will fund all Jenson's recovery and physiotherapy needs following the surgery. Local businesses and individuals came together at a fundraising event earlier this month at The Chequers pub in Wheeler End, where the new cars were on show ahead of the challenge.

"This event has shown the amazing power of friendship and fun, the money raised will make such a difference to Jenson's future and that will be with us forever."
