Letter to the editor - April 26
Not long ago it cost a minimum 10p to park in the Wakeman Road car park in Bourne End on weekdays; this was undeniably cheap and the next increase, to 30p, was not unreasonable.
It has now gone up to 50p for 30 minutes and 70p for one hour, which seems extortionate.
Even more outrageous is the introduction of a flat £1 charge on Sundays and bank holidays whereas hitherto it has been free.
This means that it is more expensive to park for up to an hour on Sundays than on weekdays: how stupid is that?
Given that the rich commuters in Marlow have the benefit of a free station car park “managed” by Wycombe District Council this needs addressing.
