Three local schools battled it out to create a unique logo for a local company who manufacture drinking straws from pasta.

Students from Wycombe High, Beaconsfield High School and Beaconsfield School were invited to submit their finest designs. Lily Cassap, a year-10 student from Wycombe High won the competition, creating a unique logo encompassing an illustration of a turtle.

The Pasta Straw Company was founded by Raj and Bettina Arora in October 2018, with the aim of trying to reduce the number of plastic straws which are thrown away each year across the country.

Raj and Bettina created a product which is made from entirely natural ingredients and are 100 percent biodegradable, as well as being suitable for vegans.

Raj said: “As soon as we started the company, we wanted to have a turtle mascot - they play an important role in ocean ecosystems and we needed to have an image that consumers could relate for the maintenance and healthy balance of environments for marine life.

“The standard of entries was quite exceptional from each school. Lily’s design was natural, clear and distinctive and we will start incorporating it across our marketing.

“With paper and cardboard straws taking anything up to 120 days to compost and plastic straws taking anything up to 200 years to biodegrade our straws are the very best alternative to other existing straws taking as little as three days to break down.”
