Legal proceedings to evict the travellers camped up on a Marlow open space have been started this morning.
Travellers arrived at Seymour Park Recreation Ground over the weekend.
Marlow Town Council has been working with police over the weekend and verbal notice for the travellers to leave was given at 12.30pm on Sunday.
A statement from the town council said: "The town clerk has been working with the police all weekend since the occupants arrived at Seymour Park Recreation Ground.
"Verbal notice was given to the occupants at 12.30pm on Sunday that they were trespassing and needed to leave by 5pm.
"Unfortunately, police did not have enough evidence of anti-social behaviour to evict under S61 powers.
"The police have asked us to encourage residents to send any evidence they have directly to them either online or by calling 101.
"Legal proceedings to evict under Section 77 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 have commenced this morning.
"In the meantime, we continue to work with the police to evict under S61 powers."
