A Princes Risborough care home resident recently celebrated her 100th birthday – on the same day her daughter turned 70.

Joan Loosley, a resident at Icknield Court care home, enjoyed her special day in the company of her family and was presented with her official telegram from the Queen by Princes Risborough Mayor Matthew Walsh.

Joan’s family also treated her to a pamper treatment from a local make up artist and a professional photographer to take a portrait of her whole family, including her three daughters, 12 grandchildren, 19 grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Children from the local school also painted small pebbles in red, Joan’s favourite colour, and hid them around the local area as a memento.

Although she has only been a resident since last year, Joan has a lasting connection to the home as her daughter worked there, and her great granddaughter is currently an active co-ordinator at the trust.

Nicola James, manager of Icknield Court said: “We are honoured to host Joan’s weekend of celebrations and are particularly thrilled to welcome the Mayor, Cllr Matthew Walsh, who will present her with her official Royal telegram. Joan is such a wonderful lady and a big part of the community here.”
