Students, peers and teachers along with their families and community members are being invited to experience an Iftar at the Royal Grammar School on Thursday.

The Iftar is the meal which is enjoyed by Muslims during the month of Ramadan at the end of the fasting day. The organisers hope that the event will encourage unity, understanding and cohesion within the community as well as understanding for those who do fast throughout the month.

Over 260 people are currently expected to visit the school for the event tomorrow. All of the attendees will have the opportunity to fast themselves and become truly immersed int the event.

Dr Sami Ahmed, CEO of Right Start Foundation International, said: “This Iftar event is an opportunity for people to come together and enjoy a blessed Iftar together side by side, regardless of faith, race or background. We hope it will allow people to learn more about Ramadan and be compassionate and caring towards one another.”

Alex Wallace, Deputy Headmaster at Royal Grammar School, said: “This event is one of the highlights of the year and a great opportunity to bring the RGS community together to celebrate this special event. We are incredibly grateful for the generous support of Right Start Foundation International”
