POLICE have made a series of arrests after an 'altercation' involving bladed weapons at a property on Oxford Road.
There were long delays on the roads this morning (Thursday) after several police cars attended the incident.
The A329 was closed in both directions from Wantage Road to George Street at around 4.50am.
Nine people have been arrested on suspicion of public order and weapons offences and they are currently in custody.
One person has been taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital with minor injuries.
Oxford Road reopened at around 9am, with heavy traffic being reported in the last hour.
Oxford Road is currently closed between Edinburgh Road and Western Elms Avenue due to a police incident. Local diversions are in place but expect delays. #rdguk

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "We are currently at the scene of an incident in Oxford Road, Reading.
"A number of arrests have been made following an altercation inside a property.
"No one has been seriously injured. Oxford Road has been closed while officers remain at the scene.
“Thames Valley Police officers were called today at about 4.50am following reports of an altercation taking place near Lloyds Pharmacy in Oxford Road, Reading.
“Officers attended an address in the road, where a number of people inside the address were in possession of bladed weapons.
“Oxford Road has been closed at this time as a precaution. Officers remain at the scene and a number of arrests have been made in connection with this incident.
“It is not currently believed that anyone has sustained serious injuries but the road remains closed at this time. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.”
As a result of the road closures, 15, 16 and 17 bus routes were being diverted.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service added: "We were asked by TVP to attend their operation in Oxford Road this morning.
"While we were initially on standby only, we have now taken one patient to the Royal Berkshire Hospital with minor injuries."
