A man from Farnham Royal has been ordered to pay more than £2,000 after he dumped rubbish in the car park of a GP practice.

Sunil Vaid, 46, of Devonshire Green, was caught after a large pile of rubbish was found dumped in the car park of the practice in Blackpond Lane.

Officers investigating traced part of the rubbish back to a shop address in Southall High Street, whose owner said they had paid Vaid to take away eight to 10 black bin bags of waste from their premises.

When interviewed at a police station, Vaid made no comment to all the questions put to him. But at his court appearance he admitted being responsible for part of the waste found dumped.

He was fined £200 and ordered to pay investigation and prosecution costs of £1,744.50. A victim surcharge of £30 was also levied along with £70 compensation to the GP practice towards its clear up costs.

South Bucks District Council’s cabinet member for environment, Luisa Sullivan, speaking on behalf of the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire, said: “The location of this incident reinforces the antisocial nature of fly tipping and how it lowers the quality of life for the whole community.

“It also demonstrates the distance that fly-tipped waste often travels before it reaches Buckinghamshire – and the painstaking work involved in tracing offenders.”
