A seven-year-old girl has been flown to hospital with serious leg injuries after being hit by a car in Chesham - and a teenager has been arrested. 

The girl was injured after being hit by a silver Volkswagen Golf on Brockhurst Road at around 12.20pm today. 

She was flown to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Investigating officer PC Tom Smith of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, based at Amersham, said: “We are investigating this incident in which a girl has been injured, she has been admitted to hospital with serious injuries.

“We are investigating the circumstances of this incident and have made an arrest.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and is in police custody.
