A skip company owner from Beaconsfield has been fined over £1,000 after rubbish he paid someone else to take away was found dumped in Chalfont St Peter and Iver.

Waste found in a field by the A413 in Chalfont St Peter came from a bathroom refurbishment in High Wycombe and Froggy Lane in Iver was completely blocked by fly-tipped waste that came from a club refurbishment in Oxford.

Evidence within the rubbish found that both sites had used the services of Webb Skips - the trading name of James Webb, 33, from The Ferns in Beaconsfield.

Mr Webb was interviewed in October 2018 and told investigators that, as his lorry was out of service, he subcontracted the two jobs to another person.

He said that he believed the man who he had hired was a registered waste carrier - but admitted that he had not carried out any checks to verify this, which meant he had failed in his duty of care to dispose of the waste properly.

Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of the man Mr Webb subcontracted in relation to the two incidents.

James Webb pleaded guilty to two offences of failing in his duty of care for waste that was found fly tipped.

The Magistrates fined Mr Webb £211 for each incident and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £600 and a surcharge of £30 - making a total to pay of £1,052.

They ordered that £50 should be paid on the day and then £50 per month.

Chiltern District Councillor Caroline Jones: "This case shows how complex waste investigations can be, with evidence being pieced together from multiple incidents to build up a strong prosecution case.

“As well as this waste contractor who failed in his duty of care, the man who actually dumped the waste is also due for arrest and will appear in court in due course."
