Pupils from St Peter's Catholic Primary School in Marlow became garden and wildlife enthusiasts after they visited the Churchill Retirement Living’s Peel Lodge development on May 15.

The children were invited by the Lodge to help make the garden more wildlife friendly, where they added a selection of bird baths, bird feeders, bug homes and hedgehog hotels to the development on Dean Street.

They were assisted by some of the Lodge’s owners and by the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust’s Community Wildlife Manager Kate Sheard, who was on hand to explain about the different creatures that live in the garden.

Jennifer Boyle, eco team leader at St Peter's Catholic Primary School, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Peel Lodge and were fascinated to hear all about the different birds and bugs in the garden.”

Yvette Christy, regional marketing manager at Churchill Retirement Living then added: “We were delighted to welcome the children.

“I think our owners also learned a few things from Kate, and we were grateful for the help in making our Peel Lodge garden somewhere really special for wildlife.

“We look forward to inviting the children back later in the summer to see how their project is developing.”.
