A special film screening celebrating the one-time resident of Beaconsfield and one of America’s most beloved poets is set for Beaconsfield.

JFK, The Last Speech is a new film which tells the remarkable story of the friendship between Robert Frost and the 35th US President John F Kennedy. It will be screened at the Fitzwilliam Centre on June 22.

Executive producer of the film Neil Bicknell will be travelling across from America for a handful of screenings, including one at Beaconsfield library. Mr Bicknell and his wife Judy are ardent admirers of Robert Frost’s work and value his connection with Beaconsfield greatly.

Neil Bicknell said: “Of President John F. Kennedy, many stories have been told. Few are less known or more revealing than his friendship with America’s most celebrated poet. Yet it was Robert Frost that Kennedy made the subject of one of his most famous speeches—just weeks before his assassination. JFK, The Last Speech explores the dramatic relationship between these two seminal Americans.”

Robert Frost first came to Beaconsfield in 1912 and rented a property in Reynolds Road. The bungalow no longer exists but a plaque on the wall at the front of the garden marks the spot where it once stood.

Kari Dorme, Committee Member from the Beaconsfield Society who are hosting the screening, said: "I am delighted we are able to host this screening. It was the Beaconsfield Society that held the centenary celebrations in 2012, that is why we have been chosen to host this special event."

Frost’s work began in Beaconsfield, with the publication of his two first volumes of poetry occurring when he lived in Beaconsfield.
