A man has been arrested after a van is said to have crashed into a pedestrian in High Wycombe town centre - before it reversed and attempted to drive at people gathered outside a pub.

A black VW Caddy van was allegedly driven at a 20-year-old man in Frogmoor just before 3am on Monday morning (June 10). 

A passer-by tried to stop the van but the driver put it in reverse and then attempted to drive at a crowd of people outside Butlers pub. 

Remarkably, no one was injured. 

The driver is described as a white man, around 5ft 8ins of medium build, with medium length brown hair and light brown facial hair.

He was wearing a dark coloured jumper and dark jeans.

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man from High Wycombe on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs in connection with the incident.

He has been released on police bail until July 7.

Investigating officer PC Richard Lunn based at High Wycombe police station, said: “We believe there were a large number of people who may have seen this incident.

“We would like to speak to these witnesses and anyone with further information.

“There could be mobile phone footage of this incident and we would ask that rather than share this on social media, please report it and share it with Police to help with this investigation.

“There could also be CCTV in the area or dash-cam footage which could also provide important information.”
