Two young boys from Bucks received a special gift this Father’s Day, as they continue to deal with the death of their father.

National charity Child Bereavement UK partnered with Red Letter Days to produce the ‘Magical Memories of Dad’ book. Co-authored by Lewis (11) and Fraser (13), the book includes illustrations documenting the boy’s memories of their father.

Lewis and Fraser's father sadly died from an undiagnosed heart condition in 2012. It The book highlights the bond between the two children and their father, showing some of their most treasured memories including playing football in the garden, a family holiday to Lapland and reading their favourite stories at bedtime.

Jane Keightley, Director of Communications at Child Bereavement UK, said: “This project has given Child Bereavement UK the opportunity to produce a unique book for Fraser and Lewis, two wonderful boys we have supported, and we are very grateful to them for sharing their special memories of their dad.

“Grieving is not about forgetting the person who has died but finding ways to remember them; by also producing a blank version of the book, we hope that many more young people will have a beautiful resource in which to document their unique memories of someone special who has died.”

Alison Vickery, Marketing Director at Red Letter Days, said: “It has been a really rewarding experience creating this special book of memories with the family. Father’s Day can be a really tough time of year for grieving children and we want to raise awareness for the incredible support that Child Bereavement UK offers to help rebuild their lives.”
