Fish and chips is most probably my favourite English dish.

It doesn’t matter if it’s traditional fish and chips, pie and chips, fishcake and chips or just a pot of mushy peas - if it’s from a fish and chip shop, I guarantee you that I will enjoy every single piece of food I will get.

So when I visited Oysters Fish and Chips in Marlow Bottom last Friday to celebrate National Fish and Chips Day, I was taken back by not just how good the food was, but of the work ethic, attitude and general kindness of all the employees in the Brucewood Parade establishment.

The event saw numerous locals attend the eatery and with shop assistant Leah Fox making sure that every customer got their food in quick time, despite there being a queue which went out of the door, she dealt every customer with politeness, a smile and efficiently which shows that Oysters runs like a well-oiled machine.

Bucks Free Press:

Behind the scenes is a team of two chefs who cook the food in a crystal clean kitchen which is incredible tidy and organised.

And what was great to see was that you could tell that both food makers take great pride in their work and are incredibly passionate about their job, as both chefs worked tirelessly to make sure the customer leaves the shop satisfied.

So, when I saw them dish up my fishcake and chips, my mouth was watering, and I wasn’t disappointed.

I had three fishcakes and every single one of them were incredibly succulent, crispy and they were not covered in oil. They were beautiful.

The chips were served up in boxes rather than paper (something that was new to me as I’ve only had chips served on paper), with the portions being just right and they were again, not too greasy.

The battered and normal sausages were again exquisite as they filled you right up, but the main gift at the party was the cod, as that was nothing short of perfect.

The huge piece of fish was battered to perfection and the fact that it was crispy and soft at the same time, made this one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had.

So, would I recommend this fish and chip to you? Yes. 100 percent.

Because even though they may be small in size in Marlow Bottom, they have a huge presence in the community due to their fantastic staff and great food.

Oysters owner Gav Singh said: “We also cater to numerous other schools around Buckinghamshire but even though that’s important, do you know what’s really important? The people who come here week in, week out as they’re our bread and butter.

“I just love doing what I do.”

Oysters is truly a top place to get your food from and it was a fantastic way to spend National Fish and Chips Day last Friday.
