More than 300 people gathered at the Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe to celebrate an iftar event for the second consecutive year.

Sponsored by the Right Start Foundation International (RSFI) delivered the event to bring people of all faiths and backgrounds together to share the experience of the local Muslim community in breaking the fast.

Attendees also enjoyed a series of talks from pupils, school staff, the RSFI, the local Iman, High Wycombe Mayor Cllr Mazamal Hussain and High Wycombe MP Steve Baker.

Dr Sami Ahmed, CEO of Right Start Foundation International, said: “We are so pleased that the event was bigger and better this year and received a lot of positive feedback! The larger turnout this year shows that there is a demand for events which help unite communities and we hope to continue delivering more of these events, more often, across the UK.”

Alex Wallace, Deputy Headmaster at Royal Grammar School, said: “I was delighted to see so many guests from so many faiths sharing in this event and enjoy one another’s company. Many areas of the school, community and Right Start Foundational International Charity worked together to make this a very special event once again.”

Sadia Hussein, community member, attended the event, she said: “It was really nice to see the community come together. People who didn’t even know each other, came together and shared a meal”.
