A resident at the Chesham Leys nursing home was joined by the Mayor of Chesham as she celebrated her 100th birthday.

Cllr Qaser Chaudhry joined Frances Woolnough on Monday, June 17 as she was presented with her official telegram from the Queen.

Frances lived the majority of her life in North West London and left school in 1935 to work at Burroughs Wellcome, before marrying in 1940. Frances and her husband moved with their children to Kingston in Surrey after WW2.

Frances now has seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, whom she loves spending quality time with.

When asked the secret to a long life, Frances claimed it was down to ‘good genes’.

Simon Meredith, manager of Chesham Leys, said: “We were thrilled to share Frances’ special celebration with her. She is a remarkable lady and it was a delight to see her turning 100 surrounded by all her family and friends.”
