Another historic ordnance was pulled out of the River Thames in Marlow last night - prompting the closure of Marlow Bridge once again. 

Magnet fishers discovered another war-time weapon in the Thames last night - with police forced to shut the bridge again while it was dealt with. 

It is at least the third time that the bridge has had to shut after magnet fishers pulled up weapons and historic ammunition.

Cookham Bridge was also forced to close on May 4 when a "number of items of historic ordnance" were recovered by magnet fishers. 

Following last night's incident at Marlow Bridge, the ordnance was safely blown up in a field this morning by bomb disposal. 

A statement from Thames Valley Police said: "At around 9.30pm last night (June 24) we were called to Marlow Bridge to reports that magnet fishers had pulled up some historic ordnance.

"Officers attended and a cordon has been put in place. EOD [Explosive Ordnance Disposal] attended and the item was disposed of safely."
