THAMES Valley Air Ambulance have announced that it has a new blood delivery service to enhance the pre-hospital vital care it provides to patients.
The charity provides advanced emergency medical care and has hired two new blood delivery drivers to transport potentially life-saving blood products to its base.

Amanda McLean, Thames Valley Air Ambulance’s CEO, said: “Hiring our Blood Delivery Drivers is another step we’ve made to ensuring we provide the best possible care for our patients. It saves our crew valuable time, allowing them to focus on responding to and treating patients.
"As blood is such a valuable resource to avoid wastage, our drivers also transport all units we haven’t used back to the hospital. After thorough checks, all suitable units are made readily available in the John Radcliffe hospital’s blood bank for patients in need.”
The blood delivery drivers will collect the blood products daily from the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford.
