The family of missing Chalfont St Peter man Roy Morris have confirmed that his body has been found after his disappearance more than six weeks ago.

Roy Morris, 60, had been missing after since May 26 after he left his home in Chalfont St Peter.

A statement on the page ‘Find Roy Morris’ set up by the family of Mr Morris said: “We are very sorry to have to let you all know that Roy has been found, but it isn’t the outcome we were all hoping for.

"Roy was found today in some woodland in the local area, but he has sadly passed away.

“We are grateful beyond words to everyone who has helped us with searching, posting flyers, spreading the word, and for everyone’s hope and best wishes.

“We are especially grateful to Thames Valley Police for their diligent work on the investigation, and to the Bucks Search & Rescue teams who have been conducting ground searches for the past five weeks, who are all unpaid volunteers acting from the goodness of their hearts.

“Thank you also to the Missing People charity, who have been providing us with support throughout this awful experience.

“Roy’s family and friends are of course devastated, and we would just like to request privacy at this difficult time, and finally, that if you do see any posters about Roy, please could you help us out by taking them down.”

Thames Valley Police say Mr Morris' body was found in woodland near the A40 in Gerrards Cross on Sunday, June 30.

The death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.

Formal identification has not yet taken place by police say Mr Morris' family are being supported by officers.

Detective Sergeant Simon Reid, based at Amersham police station, said: “Our officers along with colleagues from the Oxfordshire Lowland Search & Rescue, have been conducting searches for Mr Morris for several weeks since he was reported missing.

“Sadly, that search has discovered the body of a man yesterday afternoon, which is believed to be Mr Morris.

“Officers from Thames Valley Police are with Mr Morris’s family and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
