CCTV images have been released after a police officer allegedly had a bottle smashed over his head after Chalfont St Peter's Feast Day event. 

Police have released images of three men who may have vital information about the alleged attack, which happened outside Crumbs cafe in Market Square at around 9.45pm on June 29. 

Several men were said to have been involved in a fight - and when police went to deal with it, an officer, 27, allegedly had a bottle smashed over his head. 

He was left with a serious head wound and had to go to hospital. 

A 16-year-old boy from Chalfont St Peter has been arrested in connection with the alleged attack and has been released under investigation.

Police are now looking to trace these three men who may have information that could help their investigation.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Gareth Wright, based at Amersham police station, said: “I would like to speak to the three men pictured here as I believe they could have vital information about this incident.

“This assault left a police officer with a serious head wound which required hospital treatment, so I would like to speak to anyone who has information which they think could help our investigation.
