It is known that Desborough Road in Wycombe has got a bit of a reputation.

Several incidents over the last few years have given the street an unwanted status.

However, the unique designed burger restaurant Burger Daddy, which is situated on the road, hopes to change the street’s credibility.

Owner George James told the Bucks Free Press: “When people think of Desborough Road, they always think of the worst.

“So much bad stuff has happened along this street that I thought it would be a good idea to open a burger shop, so people can look forward to coming down here and get food which is properly prepared.

“We want to be the start of changing the reputation of Desborough Road for the better.”

The restaurant immediately impressed me because as soon as I walked into the food place, I saw the chefs carefully make the food in front of the customers, where you can really see their passion in catering come through.

George added: “Presentation is a vital part of a meal as the customer wants their food to not only taste good but look good.

“That’s why we make our customer’s food in front of them, so that they can see what we are doing to their food.

“I want our customers to trust us in what we do as I care so much about them and good food.

“I’m not satisfied unless every customer leaves with a smile because that way, I would know that we as a team have done our jobs properly.

“It’s funny because the guys here think I’m a nerd! I get so geeky and excited when making a burger because in a way, it’s an art.

The venue had a very American-esque feel with its décor and layout.

Set out for people who want a take out, the shop is very small but has a funky/modern wall design with comical visuals and slogans around the eatery.

And after being impressed with George’s attitude and passion along with the way the restaurant was set out, it was then time to get down to business and try the food.

I opted to have the ‘Only in Texas’ burger with a side of dusty fries, ‘homeslaw’ (which is their specially made coleslaw) and a strawberry milkshake.

The burger consisted of a fresh beef patty, homeslaw, a couple of strips of brisket beef, smokey cheese, ketchup, BBQ sauce with some optional extras, where I chose lettuce and onion.

The patty, which comes directly from a Texas range, was fresh, succulent, juicy, crispy and was by far the best patty I have ever tasted.

The accessories such as the brisket beef, the cheese and the homeslaw made it a cocktail of flavours which was perfect if you want a massive, dirty burger to get stuck in to.

The dusty fries were incredibly light and gave you more room for more food to be eaten and the milkshake was incredibly soft and smooth.

It went down like a treat.

The food was so good that the following day, I took my family there as I couldn’t speak highly of it.
