Primary school pupils raise over £600 for military care homes minibus appeal.

On June 27 50 year three and four pupils from Wycombe C of E school took part in a sponsored run.

The children ran laps around the Rye whilst being cheered on by their parents and teachers as they raised nearly £700 for The Royal Star and Garter Homes care home minibus appeal.

Year Three teacher Nicola Jones said: “The children loved the sponsored run. They were enthusiastic to raise money for the Home and we constantly encouraged their families and friends in order to increase the donation total.

“We are hoping to visit the Home in the new school year and look forward to organising more events and creating stronger links in the future.”

The home situated in High Wycombe is focused on providing award-winning nursing and dementia care to veterans and their partners.

They will use this bus to take the residents on activities such as pub lunches, theatre visits, and sporting events, as well as helping residents attend medical appointments.

The home needs to raise £40,000 to purchase and upkeep the minibus.

High Wycombe Home Manager Chelle Daly, said: “The residents and I want to thank every pupil at High Wycombe Primary who raised money, along with all those who sponsored them.

“Outings play an important role in the quality of care we provide, so we’re chuffed to bits with this donation.”

The charity welcomed its first residents to the High Wycombe home in April.
