A student from Beaconsfield has been selected to take part in a unique initiative at this year’s Reading Festival.

Thom Robin, a second year History student at the University of Reading, will get a backstage pass as part of a photography internship with organisers Festival Republic.

The internship will allow Thom to photograph headline acts alongside professional photographers, gain access to the press tent as well as to exclusive areas alongside bands and VIP guests.

Thom will be utilising his photography skills to capture the atmosphere of the festival as a Digital Assistant for the University of Reading’s Festival Team.

Thom said: “I’m delighted to have been chosen to work with the University and Festival Republic at this year’s Reading Festival.”

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of capturing the energy of the festival and its brilliant line up.”

Research Dean for Heritage & Creativity at the University of Reading, Professor Roberta Gilchrist comments: “Reading Festival is a major part of Reading’s cultural identity, so it’s a major coup to be able to offer our students a unique experience of this iconic event.”

This year the festival will host a range of music and comedy acts between August 23 and 25.
