An industrial building in Chesham is set to be demolished to make way for 12 new warehouse units.

Chancerygate Development LTD have submitted an application for the destruction and redevelopment of Aerial House on Asheridge Road – a unit most recently used as a warehouse, depot and offices for wireless communications company, Cobham Wireless.

The redevelopment comprises three new buildings split into 12 commercial units over 8,704 square metres - featuring first floor mezzanines, 88 parking spaces and landscaping.

Residents surrounding the Asheridge road site have already voiced their objections - with some citing further traffic disruption and damage to the surrounding natural areas as a cause for concern.

One resident said: “I am already dismayed and alarmed at the increasing number of lorry and van movements in this area at all hours of the day and night.

“These movements result in traffic disruption, quite frequently, as the vehicles attempt to manoeuvre in and out of the premises adjacent to Aerial House.

“When these vehicles are not able to access the requisite premises premises they park up overnight and empty their vehicles of litter at the same time. Hence we have fast food cartons and bottles of urine appearing; not what I pay my Council Tax for.”

Another commented: “A large animal and wildlife population exists in and among the trees and bushes that should remain. I hope that some maintenance and clearing would be carried out but not to remove or clear the area.”

Destruction of the site is proposed no earlier than October 14; pending full permission from the Chiltern District Council.
