Work will begin on the brand-new Chiltern Lifestyle Centre in October after the Shadow Executive for Buckinghamshire Council approved the plans.

The new centre is set to feature a gym, a spa, an eight-lane, 25 metre swimming pool, a diving and teaching pool, a children's splash pad area, a four badminton court sports hall, squash courts, a climbing wall, library, café area and community centre, plus space for the nursery, soft play and climb.

The new centre will replace the Chiltern Pools, which will be demolished with the exception of the site’s historic barns.

Previously, Chiltern District Council confirmed that the previous site had become uneconomical to run in the long-term according to the council, given the need for urgent repairs or replacement in some areas of the facility.

In respect to costs, Chiltern District Council said that: “The project will pay for itself over a 40-year period as a result of income from the new centre.

“It will require capital investment and we don’t expect there to be any additional cost to council taxpayers.”

Construction is set to be completed by Autumn 2021.
