Representatives from the Lee Parish Council met with Amersham and Chesham MP Dame Cheryl Gillan to celebrate the long-awaited opening of a new playground at Lee Common.
The new fort features a slide, a bridge, a cave and a tunnel.
Funds for the project were obtained through a successful application to HS2’s Community and Environment Funds (CEF). The council were awarded £44,100 from the fund.
Dame Cheryl Gillan said “For the last ten years now I have been defending the constituency over the devastating impact it will cause to our environment and constituents.
“It was about time some investment from the HS2 purse was going into benefiting the local community. At least we now have some benefit from this project which could now well be marking the end of its days.”
