Police officers in Amersham, the Chalfonts and the Missendens have unveiled the results of a response to the community forum.

The community forum offers the chance for the public to raise areas of concern across the local area, highlighting areas for the police to focus upon.

Local residents raised the issue of burglary as the number one area of concern in the most recent forum.

Police say that following analysis, they believe that large numbers of burglaries are being carried out by people who do not live locally. Concerning amounts of burglaries have been occurring in the afternoon between 12.00 and 16.00.

In response to this concern, cross border operations, named Operation Greenbelt and Operation Groundhog, have been launched with other departments and forces to target criminals travelling into the local area.

Operation Greenbelt has yielded over 20 vehicles being seized, eight people being arrested, and 33 traffic offences being reported.

Operation Groundhog has resulted in five arrests, five vehicle seizures and three stolen vehicle recoveries.

To help offer peace of mind and help prevent victims of burglary being targeted again, police have been issuing Smartwater Kits. These kits allow items to be tracked covertly.

The second concern raised by local residents was drug dealing.

Police officers have made three arrests in Amersham after three people threatened to stab a victim if he did not drive for an organised crime group.

Three closure orders have also been issued in Chesham, which prevents people visiting the address of vulnerable people and preventing suspected criminal activity.

The last of the priorities was preventing rogue traders from being able to operate. A number of schemes, including no doorstop selling zones and working in cooperation with local banks to spot fraudulent activity, have been implemented.
