Amersham library relocates whilst permanent home is being built.

The library is currently located on the Chiltern Pools site in Amersham, which is due to be demolished this November to allow the new Chiltern Lifestyle Centre to be built.

To ensure residents still have access to a library the facility will relocate to the council offices at the King George V building.

So that the move can take place Amersham Library will at 4:00pm on October 5 and will reopen at the new location on 9:00am October 15.

The temporary library will take up part of the reception area of the King George V offices, with facilities like computers, photocopying, printing and scanning and the children’s library all still being available.

Some sessions like Bounce and Rhyme will temporarily halt during the development but parents and carers can still go to sessions at other libraries in the area.

The new Chiltern Lifestyle Centre building will house Amersham Library once it is complete.

Cllr Mike Stannard, Deputy Leader of Chiltern District Council, said: “After years of planning, it’s fantastic to see that building work on the Chiltern Lifestyle Centre project is finally getting started.

“As with any major development, there will be some changes as we go through it, and our top priority is to ensure minimal impact on current users of the Chiltern Pools, staff and residents.”

The new Chiltern Lifestyle Centre will have an 8-lane 25 metre swimming pool with viewing, a diving/teaching pool, four badminton court sports hall, dry diving training facility, two squash courts, climbing wall, children's soft play area, library, café area, pool spectator area, exercise studios, 150 station gym, community centre (theatre space and community meeting spaces) and spa.
