THE 'heartbroken' family of a man who died in a crash on the M40 has paid tribute to the 'happy and hard-working' dad-of-three.

Pete Chamberlain, from Thame, died when his van collided with a silver BMW 5 Series car on the M40 last Thursday.

The crash caused the van to career off the motorway, between Junction 2 and 1A, and smash into trees and fencing. A passenger was also taken to hospital.

Mr Chamberlain, 38, died at the scene.

A statement from his family said: "Pete was a loving husband and best friend to his wife Gemma and Daddy to Chloe, Rosie and Zac.

"Pete was a kind, happy and hard-working man who was tragically taken from us far too soon and a huge hole is now left in our hearts.

"We would like to thank everyone for all the kind words and support at this difficult time.

"Pete, sleep tight our angel; we love and miss you so much."

Thames Valley Police arrested a 26-year-old man from Slough last week on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

He has been released on conditional bail until October 17.

The force is still appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to call 101 with reference URN 1406 (18/9)
